Username:Jenifer CowlesLocation: Middleton, Idaho I am a full time working mother to 3 crazy kids, Caleb age 10, Madison age 8 and Hunter age 4 they are wonderful and usually the topic to my pages. I have been married to my life long best friend for almost 11 years. I went to College for Fashion Design and found that it was too cut throat for me, I’m too sensitive. So with my background in design and fabrics it was almost natural for me to get into paper. On my days off you will find me creating something or another or working out in the yard or playing out on the boat with my family.
How long have you been scrapbooking?I remember when my first child was born I wanted something more than just pictures thown into a box so I started looking into scrapbooking and I remember standing in the Isle and the local store going “if I start this it will be life long commitment. Then I saw all the cool stuff and didn’t mind the commitment and haven’t looked back since.3
How would you define your style?I don’t know if I really have a style, I think I'm just me. I love the soft romantic feeling of girly layouts but I also love bold bright colorful layouts. I am a bit afraid of getting my hands dirty but once I dive in I usually love the results.
What is your favorite technique?Right now I'm all about flowers either purchased or made (I love making them) and canvas. I love canvas.
If you were stranded on a remote island and magically had a small handful of scrapbook supplies with you (sounds like paradise, right?!), what would products would you not be able to live without?I would have to say my paper cutter my Fiskars threading water punch and my craft knife and kraft card stock and I would be in heaven.
What do you like most about your craft?I love the fact that it brings people together. Either family members who want to look through your albums or scrapbookers. I have met wonderful ladies that I would never had the chance to meet if it wasn’t for this wonderful craft. I love that!
Do you have Favorite scrapbook manufactures, if so, who are they?I love Prima, Making Memories, Tim Holtz, Theresa Collins etc. etc. etc.
Tell us about your scrapbooking process.I usually have and idea and product in mind and then go from there. I don’t really eat anything when I scrap because I not the neatest eater and would end up with a big mess all over the place. I tend to scrap at night when the kids go to bed on on the weekend, I am so jealous of everyone that says that they stay up all night scrapbooking, I love my sleep and can usually only make it till about 11 or 12.
Where do you find your inspiration?I love blogs and have many favorites that I frequent a little to often. I also love pottery barn catalogs, they are great for color combos.
Name 3 personal ‘quirks’!I tend to be a perfectionist, and so that makes me a pretty slow scrapper. I love cherries, and will eat just about anything that has cherries in it. Feet, not a big fan of feet, unless your under the age of 3 then I just love them.
Name 3 adjectives that describe your personality.Honest, Loyal, Passionate
What’s the average amount of time spent scrapbooking or crafting during a given week?I probably spend about 10-20 hrs a week, between scraping and sewing and quilting, just depends on my mood at the time.
Visually describe your craft workspace... what’s your organization (or lack thereof!) techniques? My space is organized (in my head) but not in real life. I have multiple hobbies and one small room and it is hard to keep everything under control. The best thing I have ever purchased was an Old Library Card Catalog, I refinished it and I love it and it has 60 perfect drawers that are just stuffed with treasures.I have a quote that I love that would be perfect for my Life story title: "Don’t be afraid to be Amazing" by Andy Irwin. |
