How long have you been scrapbooking?About 15 years, since the good ol' days of shape templates and decorative scissors!
How would you define your "style"?Trendy, but slightly eclectic, and very detailed.
What is your favorite technique?I INK almost everything. I love the extra definition it gives to my projects. I also sew on most projects.
If you were stranded on a remote island and magically had a small handful of scrapbook supplies with you (sounds like paradise, right?!), what would products would you not be able to live without?That really does sound like paradise! I would have to have my paper trimmer, ink, and my crop-a-dile. A little bigger handful would include my computer and ribbon. LOVE RIBBON!
What do you like most about your craft?I love seeing my ideas come to life and preserving memories for future generations. Starting with paper and basic supplies and seeing it turn into a finished product that I and my family can enjoy now and for years to come is great.
Is there a particular technique or idea you would like to share with our web readers?I love taking flowers (especially gerbera daisies) from the floral dept, taking them apart, and layering them with ribbons, tulle, paper flowers, buttons, gems, etc.
Do you have Favorite scrapbook manufactures, if so, who are they?I love Bazziill Basics, Basic Grey, and American Crafts.
Tell us about your scrapbooking process.I don't have a specific process. Sometimes I have a stash of pictures, and coordinate paper and embellishments to go with them. Sometimes I find a line of paper that I love and work the opposite direction. It just depends what inspires me at the moment. I will work on my latest photo shoot on one counter, and my husband's baby book on the other one. I work a few minutes at a time, fitting my projects in between the needs of my busy children.
Where do you find your inspiration?I find inspiration EVERYWHERE! Sometimes I see a cute outfit on a little girl when I help in my kids' classrooms. Sometimes I love the colors in a Pottery Barn ad. I love to just blog-hop and look for good ideas.
Name 3 personal 'quirks':1. I am extremely detail-oriented. I begin a project with the idea of simplicity, and then I have to keep adding to it until it is totally over-the-top. 2. I require deadlines. If someone is coming to dinner, my house is ready. If I have a swap, I come up with great ideas, but never until the last minute. 3. If I can't do something well, I just refuse to do it!
Name 3 adjectives that describe your personality.Detail-oriented, easy-going, and positive.
What's the average amount of time spent scrapbooking or crafting during a given week?About 10-20 hours a week.
Visually describe your craft workspace... what's your organization (or lack thereof!) techniques?I have a great scrapbook room with counters on both sides and shelving up to the ceiling. Everything has a spot, but nothing is usually in its spot! I occasionally have to take a day off and just put everything away!
If you have to choose a title for your life story, what would it be?Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning to dance in the rain. |
