Judges' Notes

Rayette has mastered the balance of composition, color, and technique without losing sight of the subject she is focused on. Never under estimate the importance of ‘white space’. We love the fun added details like glitter, and stitching. Her straightforward style mixed with a little something extra is perfect. Her Butterfly shaped card is so fun and playful. You can tell that Rayette infuses her love for her subjects in her work. Her photo memory project showcased a lot of fun techniques too.

Tell us about your scrapbooking process.

When I sit down to scrapbook I usually have a cup of coffee and maybe a box of hot tamales or good & plenty’s. I usually start with photo/photos and do a quick sketch on what I might want the layout to look like, and then I pick my paper and embellishments. I like to scrap a lot during the day between my bus routes or late at night is when I seem to have the most mojo. I scrap mostly whatever photo I happen to grab. Never doing it in any sort of order.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I find a lot of my inspiration in clothing. They have great patterns and color combinations.

Name 3 personal quirks!

I HATE onions to the point that the smell of them make me ill. I HAVE to own every scent of lotion at Bath & Body Works. I eat buttered popcorn while watching the Biggest Loser show.
