Judges' Notes

Wendy has a great traditional style, but isn’t afraid to try new things. There are lots of little details that make her work shine. On the ‘you are my favorite thing’ double page layout notice the handmade flowers, the little pleated paper layer under the title, the flip up photo, the way certain words are highlighted in a different color in the journaling. She has a great way of matching up textures and colors and techniques with the subjects of her layouts that we think is spot on!

I have been scrapbooking about 15 years, in that time scrapbook supplies and paper have changed dramatically. It has been fun to see things ever changing. I find myself loving the distressed and vintage look, but I can't say that I am just one style. I like the challenge of trying out new things and styles. Techniques I always go back to like an old friend would be inking, sanding, and anything that adds texture. If stranded on a deserted island I would love to have may camera and lots of pattern paper.

Some of my favorite scrapbook manufacturers are Basic Grey, October Afternoon, Cosmo Cricket, Sassafras, My Minds Eye, Making Memories, and many more. I like to work as chronologically as I can it helps me stay organized. My creative process starts with paper and pictures and from there the fun begins. I have been known to take a picture just to match a paper I wanted to use, or to use a quote I just heard. I am a visually creative person and love that I can create these memories through scrapbooking and photography for my family to have for ages to come.
