I am married to the sweetest guy in the world- I really lucked out! He’s actually my high school sweetheart, so that’s fun. We have a little 3-year old boy named Lucas and we’re expecting a little girl in August! (A whole new world of pink scrapbook supplies is steadily piling up in my closet!) I work as a dental hygienist one day a week, and I usually like to get outside and do something fun- in my prego state- it’s usually just taking a walk! I get inspiration from all over the place. It’s most often from my 3-year-old little man. He is the cutest thing in the world to me, so it’s easy to find paper, embellishments, etc. that fit any and every little thing he’s doing. I have been scrapbooking for about 12 years, my first attempts were kind of scary (I was about 12 years old)! – I cropped my pictures to pieces back in the day of funky edged scissors- but I had fun. It started as something my mom and I could do together, and we still have girl’s nights to scrapbook. I would say my style is pretty traditional, however I love new product- so I guess a bit trendy. I find that the core of my style is always the same- I love the retro vibe, and anything just a little girly or whimsical. It has definitely evolved over the years, and I’m sure that will continue. I love using lots of pictures in my layouts. I have found that as I go back and look at old scrapbooks- that’s still what I love most! My favorite technique is distressing- it gives everything definition. My favorite thing about my craft: It’s such a fun way to keep a record of your life- which I think is very important. It’s also a great release for me- I can scrapbook and the rest of the world goes away. When I scrapbook, I always start with the pictures, and if it’s important enough for me to scrap it, there’s a good story behind it, or it’s a landmark in our lives. I love to have chocolate on hand, but I usually run to the pantry for that. And yes- I always scrap during nap time! Those are a precious couple of hours. I try to keep my layouts organized chronologically, but I jump around a lot when I scrap. I don’t like to try to do a whole season at once; I like to mix it up! Some of my favorite companies are Sassafras Lass, Cosmo Cricket, Making Memories, K and Co, Heidi Grace.
JUDGE'S NOTES: Her work is playful, sweet, and full of personality. I adore all the fun ways Megan finds to use scrapbook supplies without loosing the meaning. All of her work is so heartfelt and sincere. This girl has a great cheerful style. The ‘what a hoot’ mini book had us in stitches giggling over the journaling that told the story of some of the funny things her little guy has said. We are so impressed with her inventive and expressive way of sharing the story. |
