Knit Cable Scarf

Shopping List:

  • Five 50g balls of Palette Yarn
  • 9.00mm US 13 size knitting needles
  • Cable needle
  • Yarn needle

Measurements:

  • Width (approx) 17 cms/7ins
  • Length (approx) 166 cms/66.5 ins

Abbreviations:

  • St/s - stitch/es, K - Knit, P - Purl, RS - right side, WS - wrong side, 
  • rep - repeat, beg - begin/ning, patt - pattern, cont - continue, 
  • Cable - slip next 3 sts onto cable needle and leave at front of work, K3, then K3 from cable needle

Instructions:

NOTE: Correct tension (gauge) is not essential for this scarf.

  1. Using 9.00mm (US 13) needles and 2 strands of yarn together, cast on 26 sts. (NOTE: Yarn is used double throughout).
  2. BEG PATT: 1st row: (RS) - Knit. 
  3. 2nd row - K2, (P6, K2) 3 times. Rep 1st and 2nd rows once.
  4. 5th row – K2 (Cable, K2) 3 times.
  5. 6th row - as 2nd row.
  6. Rep 1st and 2nd rows once.
  7. Last 8 rows form patt. Cont in patt until work measures approx. 166 cms (66.5 ins) from beg, ending with a 6th patt row. 
  8. Cast (bind) off loosely knitways.
  9. FINISHING: DO NOT PRESS. Using yarn needle, darn in ends.
