Note - Correct tension/gauge is not essential for this bag.

ABBREVIATIONS

St/s - stitch/es, K - Knit, P - Purl, RS - right side, WS - wrong side, garter st - every row knit, rep - repeat, beg - begin/ning, cont - continue, patt - pattern, incl - inclusive, inc - increase one st by knitting or purling into the same stitch, K2tog - knit 2 sts together, K3tog - knit 3 sts together.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS

C6F - slip next 3 sts onto cable needle and leave at front of work, K3, then K3 from cable needle.
C6B - slip next 3 sts onto cable needle and leave at back of work, K3, then K3 from cable needle.
T5F - slip next 3 sts onto cable needle and leave at front of work, P2, then K3 from cable needle.
T5B - slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and leave at back of work, K3, then P2 from cable needle.

CREATE

Back and Front (make 2 pieces alike)
Using 6.50mm (US 10), (UK 4) Needles, cast on 69 sts.
Beg patt - 1st row - (K1, P1) 3 times, K1 (7 sts worked in moss st) K3, * P4, K6, rep from * to last 9 sts, P2, (K1, P1) 3 times, K1 (7 sts worked in moss st).
2nd row - Moss 7 (as in 1st row), K2, * P6, K4, rep from * to last 10 sts, P3, moss 7 (as in 1st row).
3rd row - Moss 7, K3, * P4, C6F, rep from * to last 9 sts, P2, moss 7.
4th row - Moss 7, K2, * P6, K4, rep from * to last 10 sts, P3, moss 7.
5th row - Moss 7, (T5F, T5B) 5 times, T5F, moss 7.
6th row - Moss 7, P3, * K4, P6, rep from * to last 9 sts, K2, moss 7.
7th row - Moss 7, P2, * C6B, P4, rep from * to last 10 sts, K3, moss 7.
8th row - As 6th row.
9th row - Moss 7, (T5B, T5F) 5 times, T5B, moss 7.
10th row - As 4th row. Rows 3 to 10 incl form patt. 
Work a further 41 rows patt, thus ending with a 3rd patt row.
Next row - Purl. Next row - P6, * P2tog, rep from * to last 7 sts, P7 = 41 sts.
** Beg border patt - 1st row - Knit. 2nd row - Purl. 3rd row - Knit. 4th row - Knit.
5th row - Purl. 6th row - Purl. Rows 1 to 6 incl form border patt.
Work a further 12 rows border patt. ** Cast/bind off loosely knitways.
Handles and Gusset (worked in one piece)
Using 6.00mm (US 10), (UK 4) Needles and 2 strands of yarn together, cast on one st.
1st row - (K1, P1, K1) all into st = 3 sts.
2nd row - K1, P1, K1. 
3rd row - Inc in first st, K1, inc in last st = 5 sts. 4th row - Moss 5.
5th row - Inc in first st, moss 3, inc in last st = 7 sts. Tie a coloured marker at beg of next row.
Cont in moss st until work measures 55 cms/22 ins from coloured marker, working last row on WS.
Next row - Inc in first st, moss 5, inc in last st = 9 sts. Work 3 rows moss st.
Break off 1 strand of yarn and work border patt as for Back and Front from ** to **.
Using 2 strands of yarn together, cont in moss st until work measures the same length as Back and Front, from the border, down side edge, along cast on edge, up side edge to the beg of other border. To ensure the border on the gusset matches Back and Front, finish this section with a WS row before commencing the border.
Break off 1 strand of yarn and work border patt as for Back and Front from ** to **.
Using 2 strands of yarn together, work 3 rows moss st.
Next row - K2tog, moss 5, K2tog = 7 sts. Place a second coloured marker at beg of next row.
Cont in moss st until work measures 55 cms/22 ins from second coloured marker, working last row on WS.
Next row - K2tog, moss 3, K2tog = 5 sts. Work 1 row moss st.
Next row - K2tog, moss 1, K2tog = 3 sts. Work 1 row moss st. Next row - K3tog. Fasten off.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using yarn needle, darn in ends. Using yarn needle and back-stitch, sew gusset to each side edge and cast on edge of Back and Front, matching border patts. Tie handles together in a knot as pictured.
