Directions
- Begin by creating the 26 light bulbs. Load each head pin with one 8x12mm pear shape bead (small end of bead to the ball tip end of head pin), then add 1 Kenyan spacer, and one bead cap (large/open end down). Create a wire wrapped loop at the top. Set aside 3 sets of matching bulbs for the earrings.
- To create a wire wrapped loop, use your round nose pliers to put a 90 degree bend in the wire approximately 2mm above the bead cap, with your round nose pliers bend the wire up, over, around, and past the 90 degree bend you just put in the wire (loop should be centered above the bend and resemble a lollipop). Then hold onto loop section with your chain nose pliers, and bend wire tail around the head pin just below the loop with your fingers. Once you have gotten the wire around once, use your bent nose pliers to help guide the wire around again, trim off excess wire tail, and smooth the wire around the neck of the head pin with the bent nose pliers to finish.
- Cut a 28inch piece of beading wire, slide a crimp bead onto one end, add lobster claw to wire, and then double back through the crimp bead, then snug-up the crimp bead and loop to the clasp, crimp using crimping pliers. Trim off excess wire tail.
- Begin stringing the 11/0 seed beads until 2 inches long, then add a 6/0 seed bead and a wrapped light bulb dangle, then another 6/0, then continue adding another inch of the 11/0’s, and repeat for a total of 20 bulbs.
- To finish, add the 2 inches of 11/0 seed beads after the last bulb, then a crimp bead and the other end of the lobster claw closure, double back through the crimp bead, snug-up the beads crimp, and closure so that the extra slack is out and crimp with crimping pliers.
- To create the earrings, attach 5 jump rings to each of one color of beads (to form the longest dangle), then add 3 jump rings to another set of bulbs, and 1 to the other set. Using a jump ring, load one of each of the three colors of bulbs, and one fishhook, then gently close to secure. Repeat to create the set. *Always open jump rings to the side, this helps retain the original shape and will help it close easily.
