Tools
- Wire Cutters
- Round Nose Pliers
- Chain Nose Pliers
- E-6000 Glue
- Needle and thread to match zipper trim
1. Begin with building your zipper roses- cut your 24” piece of zipper trim in half, now cut your 12” pieces into three 4”inch pieces, you will use three 4” pieces to create each rose. With your needle and thread gather one piece of your zipper trim (stitching the lower edge of the fabric side trim), until it begins to coil. Carefully sew the curl together into a tight spiral. You will need to stitch back and forth to keep the design in place. Use the same technique to build out from the center of the rose, with the gathered pieces. Repeat for the second rose. Use E6000 glue to adhere each rose onto one of the Arte Metal pieces that has four holes and is big enough to cover your stitching. Leave access to the holes.
2. Creating the dangles, and preparing the decorative links for chain additions- Attach an eye pin to each of your decorative pieces (both ends if applicable) and add either the 4mm or 6mm beads onto each eye pin. Turn an eye loop at opposite end, to match the factory loop. Set aside pieces.
3. Cut extra large chain into one 9” piece and one 5” piece. Connect the hook end of the closure on the short piece of chain (with the eye portion of the closure). Load the head pin with one 6mm bead and turn eye loop to create a dangle, add dangle to the long piece of the larger chain. Attach unfinished ends of the chain to the top of your rose pieces (with 6mm jump rings). The neck portion of the design will now be adjustable.
4. Begin attaching the drape chains to the lower three holes of your rose pieces with the 6mm jump rings. The smaller chain should be on the inside and the larger chain on the outside.
5. Once you have attached the chains, decide where you would like the decorative pieces to go, cut the chain and add in your decorative pieces by opening up the eye loop of your decorative links gently to the side to add in the chain, and then close. Do this one section at a time, so that you can eyeball where the next decorative piece will go as the chain will become longer with each added piece. It’s recommended to use the largest decorative pieces on the longest part of the chain, and so on.
