Note: When measuring for your watch band, you need to consider the following:
The size of your wrist.
- The length of your watch.
- The length of your lobster claws.
- Subtract step 1.) and step 2.) from your wrist length.
- For Example: For a 7" wrist -1" for the watch face-1" for the lobster claws= 5" to be beaded.
- Every watch you make will differ slightly because of the different size of watch face and lobster claws. Glass, wood and gemstone beads along with the metal spacers make a great combination, for a casual style.
Instructions - Begin by clipping the lobster claws onto the watch face (to ensure that all are facing the correct direction-unless using swivel lobster claw clasps). Cut 1.5 ft of elasticity stretch cord, string one bead and tie a temporary knot at one end of the cord (acts as a place holder).
- Run the cording from the outside of one lobster claw, add a bead(s), and run cord through next lobster claw (on same side of watch face).
- String approximately 1.5-2in of beads (adjust length of beads taking into consideration total length of band and quantity of desired spacers) and add a two hole spacer (that is wide enough to accommodate the size of the beads you are using), and continue stringing beads 1.5-2in adding another spacer bar, and then continuing to add another 1.5-2in of beads.
- String cording through lobster claw on opposite side of watch face, unclip lobster claw add bead(s), and string through last lobster claw (unclip).
- Untie temporary knot at end of stretchy cord, and tie permanent knot, connecting both ends, using a surgeons' knot as recommended on the back of the spool of Elasticity, and a spot of Bead Fix glue to insure the knot will not slip.
