My addiction to scrapbooking started over 10 years ago. Of course it started innocently enough, but then escalated at a rapid rate after my youngest child was born! I’ve had a love for photography for as long as I can remember and about 10 years ago I started looking into ways to expand my photographic hobby. That’s when I stumbled across Scrapbooking. I absolutely love the creative outlet scrapping provides.

Style… What style?  I’ve never thought about what my style of scrapbooking would be classified as …I actually think I mix and vary the styles frequently so I really can’t pinpoint any one style.  I like the retro/classic looks as well as simple and clean.  But then again, I also like to throw in a little shabby chic and rustic flair at times.  So to define my style I’d say it’s versatile…changing depending on what the photo calls for.  And of course evolving as time goes by.

I love using a variety of techniques, (and of course learning new ones as often as I can) - My top 3 favorites techniques would be: (1). Inking…I LOVE to ink everything.  I think it helps add dimension and some texture to the edges of photos, mats and embellishments, (2).using rub-ons…I love this. At first I was somewhat weary of using them...with the fear that I’d destroy a layout  or photo. But after just going for it I found I love the look rub ons can give, and (3). Stitching...this is something I’m just getting into…but I LOVE the looks you can get from it.  Machine or hand stitching…they’re both fun.

Products I couldn’t do without… Is there a limit??  LOL… If stranded on a remote island I’d of course have to have my Making Memories Precision trimmer, a good pair of scissors, Glitter glue Bazzill cardstock in a variety of colors, buttons, a needle, DMC floss, a variety of cats eyes ink and of course adhesive.  Lots of adhesive.

I like the artistic outlet scrapbooking gives me.  Not only can I be creative in the photos I take but also creative in how I display those photos…..from traditional scrapbook layouts to works of art for the wall.

Oh….One of the best techniques I picked up this past year is stamping on Shrinky dinks.  It’s fun and easy.  Just take your sheet of shrink paper…stamp an image on it (using stazon ink)...you can even hand draw, doodle or write if you wish.  Color your image if you like (there should be instruction on the shrink package as to what kind of ink and or coloring products work best) Cut your images out…and shrink.  Then when finished apply to your card or layout using the Extra Strong Pioneer embellishment glue stick

To support my scrapbooking addiction I work Per Diem as a Registered Nurse in Yakima. When I’m not working at the hospital I’m looking after my two wonderful daughters, planning fundraising events to help raise money and awareness of Cystic Fibrosis or doing product demos at the Yakima Craft Warehouse.  I absolutely love photography and travel (both of which go hand in hand with scrapbooking).  I also “hoard” fonts on my computer and some may say I’m a obsessive planner (myself…I really think it depends on what I’m planning as to how ‘obsessive’ I may be)    Okay...I give up, my biggest secret… my kids call me “Monk-ish”!
