Judges' Notes:

"Pop Quiz!- How do you scrapbook a photo of Santa and use the color pink? Ask Jenny! If the unexpected color on the Santa layout wasn’t enough, she adds a black flower, a glittery pink bracket, and gemstones to it and somehow it looks AMAZING. Not just amazing, but like there is no other way it could be. Her designs are fun, playful, girly, and full of detail. We are so excited to have Jenny on the team- her methods of scrapbooking are exciting and fresh."

Jenny MacKenzieMy name is Jenny and I'm from East Wenatchee, WA. I’m a Christian wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. I’ve been married 7 ½ years and have one daughter that’s 2 ½ years old.  My husband is a Lear Jet pilot and I stay home with our vivacious little girl. Outside of crafting and eBay, I’ve also started a successful home business.  We are in the final stages of finishing the building our new home.  I’m very anxious to move in, enjoy the additional space and have the hard work behind us.  And, hopefully, turn my future formal dining room into a spectacular scrapbook studio!! …The future looks very bright!

I first started scrapbooking 7 ½ years ago doing my wedding album.  As I look back, my work was painfully basic at best. A few years later I gave it another go and re-did my album.  I even dabbled a bit making premade pages to sell on eBay. Right around this time I got pregnant, quite my job cause we had to move, and have scrapped off and on ever since. I finished my daughter’s baby book around her first birthday, and have only done about a dozen layouts since. Unfortunately, that was almost two years ago!  I’ve done many projects, altered items and some whole albums as gifts.  As much as I love to share my love for scrapping with others, I can’t want to dig in and complete albums for my immediate family – my ultimate dream is to ‘catch up’ completely!

My style is probably classic – but I feel the more experience I get, the more it evolves.  I tend to prefer straight lines, matting photos and handwritten journaling.  I’m one to want to get as many photos as possible, into a layout, without it looking too cluttered or missing out on enjoying the art of it all.   I really focus on what the photos call for.  As much as I love patterned paper and embellishments, I firmly believe that whatever scrapping is done, it should be done for the sole purpose of accentuating the experience inside the photo.  Whatever colors and textures are used, they must contribute to the experience of the photo – not take anything away from it. My favorite technique has got to be using common embellishments in an uncommon way. Trying this forces me to think outside the box. And more often than not, I'm more than happy with the results.

If I was stranded on a remote island, I could not live without: After patterned paper and cardstock, my absolute basic tools and embellishments include: my old school guillotine paper trimmer, mini glue dots, black extra fine tip pen, scissors, herma tabs, mini white ric rac, and silver mini brads.

My favorite aspect of scrapbooking is that it’s a meaningful and productive form of relaxation.   I love having found a creative outlet that is so gratifying personally, as well as easily channeled as a way to give to others.
