Clear scrapbooking is fun new twist to traditional scrapbooking. There are tons of techniques, treatments, and applications for clear scrapbook embellishments and pages for you to try. Many of them use the clear embellishment or page as the 'sufrace' and then you embellish them with scrapbook supplies you probably already have!

You can create scrapbook layouts with clear plastic sheets, you can make your own one of a kind clear scrapbook embellishments, even make entire CLEAR scrapbooks.

Below is a fun sampling of a few of the different techniques you can apply to clear scrapbooking.

rub_ons.jpg
Rub Ons: Rub ons are a fast and easy way to alter clear plastic pages or embellishments. White rub ons in particular look great on clear pages as they look the same on both the front and the backside.

Doodle: Use Galaxy Markers or Slick Writers to doodle on the plastic.

File/Sand: Use your scrapbook sanding tool (I like Basic Grey's Precision file set) and sand the edges of plastic sheets or clear embellishments. The finished look is almost like ice. A fun subtle ghost/distressed look.

Add Embellishments: Clear embellishments can be added to the clear plastic sheets. You can find flowers, stars, hearts, clocks, and lots more clear embellishments and you can adhere them to paper, cardstock, and even clear plastic sheets.Try different methods for attaching them. Here I used colored staples, Also try eyelets, brads, stitching, and glue dots.
buttons.jpg
Add Buttons: Buttons are a fun and fast way to enhance your clear scrapbooking. They look great on both sides. Adhere with glue dots- or stitch them on like I did here.
alcohol_ink.jpg
Alcohol Ink: Alcohol Ink is a fast and fun way to lay down a lot of transparent color on your clear pages or embellishments. It's fast drying and no two pieces will look the same. I have only used one color here, but you can add many colors for a marbled look.
die_cut.jpg
Die Cut: You can use the Accu-CUT die cutting machines at your local Craft Warehouse to cut shapes and letters from clear plastic sheets. You can really custom-make your own clear embellishments! You could even cut out several larger shapes to make a shaped album, or use the negative like I did here- cutting out the word 'hi' from the center of the clear plastic sheet.
krylon_pen.jpg
Krylon Pen: You can find Krylon pens in Gold, copper, and silver. These work great on clear plastic. you can draw, paint, doodle, or edge your clear plastic with them. The result is a highly metallic finish!
color_or_edge.jpg
Inking: You can color the plastic or edge the design with STAZ ON ink pads. Available in a large variety of colors you can find just the right color to match your project. To edge- simply rub the edge of your clear plastic sheet or embellishment on the Staz ON ink pad. The finish will be semi transparent.
stitching.jpg
Stitching: Piece holes through the plastic with a paper piercer first. Then thread large needle with floss and stitch! (you can also use stitching as a decorative way for 'adhering' items to the clear plastic) TIP- stamp or draw design on white scratch paper and lay over a piece of foam. lay plastic on top and and piece holes using the design as a guide!
stamp.jpg
Stamp It: Use any stamp you like and STAZ ON ink and stamp on the plastic sheet or embellishment to coordinate with your design.
paint.jpg
Paint: Use Making Memories or any acrylic paint and paint the plastic. You can do this decoratively or to block out an area with color like I did here. Fun idea!- make your own mask! Adhere letter stickers or decorative stickers to clear plastic. Brush paint over top of the stickers and surrounding area. When the paint is dry remove the stickers for a 'masking' effect.

Now that you know a bit of the fun you can have with clear, here is a look at how to build a clear scrapbook.
